Vlach embroidery entered into the national registry of intangible cultural heritage

By the decision of the National Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage of December 21st, in addition to the 57 existing ones, 6 more elements of the "living heritage" of Serbia were entered In the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage – Vlach embroidery "Stampujit", saddler craft, leather garment making, tossing fire torches, playing the tambouritsa and swimming for the Epiphany Cross. At the initiative of e Ethno network and the associations in its membership, the Stapar and Sjenica-Peshter kilimg weaving, double-spun sock knitting and Bosniak lace ojice were previously entered in the national register.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and NALED, Ethno Network supported the initiative of the local associations "Misija kreativa" from Kladovo under the leadership of Slavica Borakovic and "Nego" from Negotin, to work in partnership with local institutions on the preservation of Štampujit technique through research, preparation of files for entry into the registry, presentation, promotion and knowledge transfer.

The professional associate who created the file for the entry of the element is Dusanka Botunjac, an academic painter and applied artist, she is the guardian of the motives of Negotin Krajina, the authentic Vlach heritage that she promotes and preserves from oblivion, and as a member of the art council, educator and designer of Ethno Network.
