Empowered women associations as drivers of local development in Sremska Mitrovica

A round table on the topic of protection of the origin and quality of handicraft and authentic products, as well as the successful work of the association, was held in Sremska Mitrovica on Wednesday, November 10. The gathering was attended by a large number of representatives of local associations, local tourist organizations, city administration, but also the media.

Speakers at the round table "Empowered women's associations as drivers of local development" were Jovanka Sovljanski, president of the association "Ethnodom Gorocvet" from Indjija and Nemanja Sarac, a representative of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, who shared their experiences on the importance of cooperation between different stakeholders.

In cooperation with institutions and project participants from Sombor and Bela Palanka, specific measures and programs that local institutions can offer as support for further development of this sector (support in the procurement of equipment, protection of origin, design and packaging) will be defined. In addition, in the continuation of the project, the associations will have the opportunity to apply for support programs: training for appearance on social networks, project writing, as well as product design and presentation.

This project is supported by the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Serbia (UN Women) within the project "Key Steps to Gender Equality, Phase II" funded by the European Union.
