Award ceremony for miniature exhibits

Award ceremony was held at the Sava center as part of the 11th Juried Exhibition of Miniatures of the Ethno Network called The Thread that binds us, which gathered 63 authors and 121 competing exhibits, as a testimony of the continuity of old techniques, female creativity and contemporary interpretation of cultural heritage.

As part of this year's event, awards were presented for the preservation of the Cyrillic alphabet through contemporary works in old techniques and for the best miniatures in traditional techniques.

As part of the project for the preservation of the Cyrillic alphabet, which was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Gorana Vukas, from the association Uzor from Inđija, was awarded for the motif of the Cyrillic alphabet in the technique of gold embroidery; then Neda Ćulibrk, a student of the Textile College in Belgrade for the Cyrillic composition in the embroidery technique, realized with the mentoring support of Ana Cicović, as well as Vidak Radenović, master textile designer from Belgrade, for the motif of Cyrillic letters in the combined technique.

Prizes for miniatures in traditional techniques were won in the folk embroidery category by the multi-awarded author from Sombor, Slavica Vasović, for the exhibit with the motif of Zmijanje embroidery and geometric ornaments: in the category of gold embroidery, the author from Čenta, Jelena Ajh, for the motif of the rosette from the Ljubostinja monastery, the endowment of Princess Milica; in the felting category, the master felter from the Zlatno runo Sirmium association from Sremska Mitrovica and entrepreneur, Anica Jelenković, was awarded for the artistically decorated felt ball with the motif of the Pirot rug.

Jasna Vujičić, leader of the Panonka association from Pancevo, which cultivates well-known Banat pattern, was awarded in the weaving category for masterwork with the Dinaric apron motif; in the category of crocheting and knitting, Ilonka Aćić from Pancevo was awarded for the work of refined lace with motifs inspired by old books. The prize for young author was awarded to Maša Golubović, student of the School of Art from Niš, for the work White Angel, made in the technique of embroidery with the mentoring support of Professor Tatjana Perevalov.

Danijela Panić, an author from Valjevo, received a special jury award for a series of works in the technique of folk embroidery with motifs of Zmijanje embroidery, floral ornaments and the monastery of Žiča.

The exhibition also included more than 100 show exhibits of previous laureates, as an example of excellence and mastery in miniature. An important segment of this year's presentation is also the work of participants in creative workshops organized with the support of the Cabinet of the Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, in cooperation with the Youth Center and the Institute for Mental Health, with the aim of reducing peer violence and strengthening intergenerational understanding. The best works and authors are presented as part of the exhibition, which will be open until December 20.
