Exhibition at the Chinese Cultural Center

With a thematic exhibition of unique handicrafts entitled "70 years of friendship between the peoples of China and Serbia - Bridges of cultural heritage", the Chinese Cultural Center in Serbia marked one year since its opening in partnership with Ethno Network.

Director of the Chinese Cultural Center Zhang Aimin reminded that the Chinese Cultural Center was officially opened during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Serbia a year ago, and the exhibition is an opportunity to further expand the platform for cultural exchange between the two nations.

"Each exhibit at today's exhibition, Chinese costume, embroidery or felt balls and kilims that are made in Serbia, carries the wisdom and dedication of the craftsmen from our two nations. Handiwork contains a unique identity that is passed down through the generations. The Chinese Cultural Center in Belgrade, together with its partners, will make efforts to protect and further transmit the precious cultural heritage of our peoples," he said.

President of Ethno Network and Executive Director of NALED, Violeta Jovanović said that in just one year of operation in Serbia, the Chinese Cultural Center has become an important place for presenting the rich culture of China, as well as a bridge of communication, cooperation and exchange between artists and the people of the two countries.

"Ethno Network sees the Chinese Cultural Center as a strategic partner for future projects aimed at protecting the intangible cultural heritage. This exhibition is a symbol of our cooperation, togetherness and friendship between our two peoples because it includes elements of the intangible heritage of both countries," said Jovanović and added that the handicrafts of the women gathered in the Ethno Network will be part of the permanent exhibition at the Chinese Cultural Center.

More than a hundred works of intangible cultural heritage from China and Serbia are displayed at the exhibition, including handicrafts made in the techniques of weaving, embroidery and other traditional crafts.
