Empowered women associations as drivers of local development in Sombor

On Monday, November 1, a round table "Empowered women's associations as drivers of local development" was held in Sombor. Speakers were Jovanka Sovljanski, president of the association "Ethnodom Gorocvet" from Indjija, and Nemanja Sarac, a representative of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications. Ljiljana Tica, deputy mayor of Sombor, joined the conversation.

With the moderation of journalist Borislav Despotović, there was a discussion about the successful work of local associations and the necessary assistance measures at the local and national level. In addition to the associations of old crafts, agriculture and local development, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the City, local tourist organizations and the media. As a conclusion of the conversation, the following support measures were pointed out that would make a difference in the work of associations: public works, assistance in product certification processes, obtaining space for the sale of handicrafts, financial support for design and packaging.

Associations will have the opportunity to apply for the support program that will follow within the project: training for appearances on social networks, project writing, as well as product design and presentation.

This project is supported by the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in Serbia (UN Women) within the project "Key Steps to Gender Equality, Phase II" funded by the European Union.
