Weavers’ colony in Stapar

3rd weavers’ colony in Stapar gathered outstanding weavers from Sombor, Stapar, Odžaci, Pančevo, Kladovo, Leskovac, Šabac, Novi Pazar, Sremski Karlovci and Kruševac. This year the colony was also visited by representatives of the lace museum from the town of Kiskunhalas from the neighboring Hungary, with the aim of building programs of cooperation on cross-border in order to preserve cultural heritage. The practice of organizing weavers’ colonies was established by the cities of Pirot and Sombor under the Cooperation agreement for the preservation of traditional kilim weaving, which they nurture together with Ethno Network and local associations with the support of NALED and Embassies of Australia and the USA.
