Festive evening at the Hyatt

A kiosk was open at the Belgrade hotel in the Hyatt hotel, offering authentic hand-made products from Serbia and the handicrafts of Ethno Network. The diplomatic and business community that visited the Ethno Network holiday bazaar at the Hyatt welcomed the opening of this selling point and underlined the need to make Serbia's handicrafts available in an ethno gallery in the city center.

From products at stalls and street fairs, stylized pieces of the Ethno Network now adorn the buildings of the republic and provincial governments, and more recently they are represented in a fine exhibit at the Hyatt Hotel, whose director, Zafiris Lampadaridis , has invited other high-class hotels and elite restaurants to enrich their offerings with unique products from the hands and hearts of Serbia

Support for the Ethno Network is provided by the international community, especially Canada fund for local initiatives that helps equip craft associations in Kladovo, Knjazevac, Sombor, Odzaci, Pancevo and Bela Palanka.

"The association received equipment for setting up fine exhibitions in order to be more successful in marketing handicrafts. The project is part of the Canadian Embassy's efforts to support the economic empowerment of women and youth, especially in rural areas, " Canada's Ambassador Giles Norman said.

Ethno Network President Violeta Jovanovic underlined the importance of a permanent source of income for the guardians of traditional crafts as a key step towards empowering and economic independence for women in the countryside.

"NALED in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Agency for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) supports Ethno Network initiatives for the development of cultural tourism and the acquisition of marketing, branding and product placement skills in tourism, encouraging young people to engage in the development of handicrafts and programs for tourists and foreigners," Jovanovic says.

The next step is to provide a representative exhibition and retail space, in large tourist centers and in the center of Belgrade.

"For years, Co-ordination for gender equality body has been encouraging programs to empower women in all spheres, especially those in the countryside, and we are working hard to secure a gallery space in Belgrade," Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihailovic said.
