Colony of embroidery and gold embroidery in Indjija

The first colony of embroidery and gold embroidery was held in Inđija from June 23 to June 25, organized by the Ethno Network, the Municipality of Inđija and NALED, and under the auspices of the Embassy of the United States of America. During three days, 10 women from Sombor, Kladovo, Bela Palanka, Kruševac, Pančevo, Novi Pazar, Šabac and Belgrade improved their embroidery and gold embroidery skills. Among the participants was the wife of the American ambassador, Anne Godfrey.

The program of the colony, which took place in the ethno club "Dvoriste" in Krcedin, included an expert lecture on the topic of folk costumes in Srem, which was introduced to embroiderers by the curator of the Museum of Vojvodina, Milica Radisavljević. Participants embroidered crosses, Danube and Hungarian embroidery, and chose motifs they made in gold embroidery. Thanks to the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Inđija, they visited the Celtic settlement, the monument to Milunka Savić, the House of Vojnović, as well as the center of Inđija, with expert guidance.

As part of the diplomatic day, the colony was visited by representatives of the international community - the embassies of the United States of America, the Kingdom of Belgium, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, which were welcomed in Krcedin by the mayor of Inđija, Vladimir Gak. In addition to visiting the colony, the ambassadors also visited Stari Slankamen, a memorial to the famous battle near that place, enjoyed a boat ride on the Danube and a tasting of local brands.

Thanks to the mentoring support of the members of the association "EthnoDom Gorocvet", the participants successfully exported their works. On the last day of the colony, all participants were awarded certificates for participation in the first colony, and the most successful embroiderers were awarded special recognitions, for the best work in the category of color innovation Gorani Vukas from Inđijja, for the best work in the category of technical correctness Divni Gligorić from Šabac and for the most beautiful piece in the technique of embroidery and gold embroidery by Jovanka Ćirić from Bela Palanka.
