Intangible heritage in the service of local development

On Tuesday, October 27, a round table entitled "Intangible Heritage in the Service of Local Development" was held in the premises of NALED. Participants were Tatjana Matić, Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Ana Ilić from the Council for Creative Industries, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dejan Masliković Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Culture and Information, Danijela Filipović, Advisor at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, Miloš Colić, Assistant Mayor Pirota and Katarina Mandić, owner of a craft shop from Pancevo.

With the moderation of the President of the Board of the Ethno Network, the panelists discussed several topics, which concerned the recognition of intangible heritage in the community, inclusion in the national list of intangible cultural heritage, opportunities for developing traditional crafts in step with online business and digitalization.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of support measures for local and national institutions for craft associations and entrepreneurs. Some of the proposed measures agreed by the participants that they should be introduced are "guardian of tradition", establishment of city ethno galleries, professional support of ethnologists to associations for enrollment in the NKN list, organization of public works and workshops for children, designed product design competitions, packaging and promotion, as well as placement through the state protocol. The conclusion of the talks is that it is necessary to establish cooperation between associations and institutions, in which a big step would be the adoption of the Law on Crafts through the establishment of an interdepartmental working group that would prepare regulations, but also resolve urgent issues for the protection of endangered heritage.

At the ceremonial end, a certificate was awarded to the members of the association who participated in the seminars intended to introduce them to the way of working in the digital world. With respect to all epidemiological measures, Minister Matić handed over to the representatives of the association certificates for acquiring basic knowledge in the field of online business within the project "Digitization of tradition".
