The new collection of Bata Spasojevic inspired by ethno motifs

Belgrade, October 18 - Ethno Network has announced the cooperation with our renowned fashion designer Slobodan Bata Spasojevic, today, during promotion of the exhibition “Tradition at your fingertips” that is taking place in the lobby of Shopping mall Beograd (“Beogradjanka”). Delighted with design and production of traditional handicrafts, which are products of women from all over Serbia, Spasojevic has decided to use certain motifs for his new collection for the upcoming Belgrade Fashion Week. Ethno Network will have its own sales exhibition within this event, that is going to take place at the Belgrade Expo Center.

- The collection will be inspired by the folk costumes and folk motifs, but ‘packed’ into my contemporary story. We have prejudices when it comes to folklore, especially ours, and we believe that, for example, folk costumes must look strictly, and that is wearing only in specific situations. I want to show people exactly that these models can be very fashionable, wearable, interesting, chic! - said Bata Spasojevic.

He announced also his idea to create a contemporary story with Ethno Network, by designing two or three pieces of clothes per year, that will be inspired by folk motifs and that will have its “fashion story” every season. This way Bata wants to present to people how prestigious may be such pieces.

- The new collection is named “City Folk Time”, and this title should announce the time when we will be able to see folk motifs in the city. My goal is to bring the audience closer to these motifs that are ours, that other people are proud of, and which we buy when we go abroad, but we neglect them here – emphasized Bata Spasojevic, whose show within the Fashion Week will be held on October 28, at the Expo Center in Belgrade.

Bata explained that cooperation with the Ethno Network is just at the beginning, and that he wants collections like these, with ethno motifs, to present abroad, too. There is also a possibility of making some limited editio
