Public works

NALED as the project holder and Ethno Network as its implementer, held the first meeting with participants of Public Works that are initiated with the aim to engage unemployed women from predominantly rural and underdeveloped municipalities in producing handicrafts for the purposes of Protocol of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

In addition to products that represent a tangible output of the project since they are used as representative gifts for diplomats, the public works project contributes to the professionalization of women as producers for the market, making them independent economically through acquisition of new skills and a source of income for themselves and their families.

The project includes a three-month work placement for 46 unemployed women from the following ten municipalities: Bela Palanka, Kucevo, Boljevac, Veliko Gradiste, Negotin, Knjazevac, Belgrade, Indjija, Pancevo and Odzaci.

At the first meeting, women picked up their employment contracts and all necessary forms, as well as raw materials for the first month of the project.

It was agreed that a new meeting will be held mid-October as an opportunity for all participants of public works to exchange experiences and consult with Ethno Network ethnologists and designers who provide professional support and exert quality control over public works.
