Conference „Women and entrepreneurship“

Economic empowerment of women through entrepreneurship was the topic of the conference entitled „Share your knowledge - become a mentor 2013/2014“ which was held in Belgrade, on Saturday, April 26, from 2.00-6.00p.m. The goal of this program is the economic and professional empowerment of women in Serbian society through exchange of experiences and knowledge between women leaders from different professions and younger women with similar interests and a desire to beceom successful in their fields.

In the first panel, which was moderated by Milica Dimitrijevic, director of the Hannibal doo, the following speakers presented their experiences related to the topic:

Biljana Jovanovic, CEO, Luna doo,
Marina Milovic, marketing manager, Maja honey doo.

The second panel was moderated by Mirjana Sakic in charge of communications at Erste Bank, and the topic of social entrepreneurship was elaborated by:

Margaret Kecman, Director, KECMNRO,
Ivana Stancic, Coordinator, Good bag,
Anica Spassov, president of the Association of „Our House“.

After a brief presentation of speakers and their professional experiences, the panels allowed for discussion on the degree of attention that society and institutions dedicate to the economic empowerment of women, and the role and importance of social enterprises in the employment of vulnerable groups. It was pointed out that studies worldwide have shown that companies whose owners and managers are women, are more efficient, socially responsible and contribute to the empowerment of women and other disadvantaged groups.

The second panel focused on the opportunities offered by social entrepreneurship as an innovative solution for a variety of economic, educational, health and environmental issues in the community through development of associations and use of sustainable business
