“100 women - 100 miniatures”

Great potential of creative economy

Belgrade,October 24 – Traditional exhibition of handicrafts “100 women – 100 miniatures” was announcedtoday, at the press conference held in the premisesof Privredna banka Beograd.Third year in a row, Ethno Network will present, this time at the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, master skills of women from all over Serbia in making miniature versions of traditional handicrafts. In cooperation with Privredna banka Beograd, partner of this year’s exhibition, the most successful works – according to jury selection, will be presented from November16 to 30.

- This year’s competition was open, for the first time, to all authors of handicrafts, regardless their membership in the Ethno Network. Interest was very high, and the task of the jury during selection much more difficult. This way EthnoNetwork continues to fight for the preservation of tradition, but also to provide an opportunity for women – authors of handicrafts, to turn their hobby into a source of income for themselves and their families. We believe that institutions and businesses will recognize the importance of this initiative and support activities that contribute to the creation of better image of Serbia, as well as to development and promotion of touristic potentials – said Iva Radic, manager of the Executive Office of Ethno Network.

Awards granted by the Ethno Network (in five categories/techniques), as well as prizes provided by Privredna banka Beograd, will be a significant boost to the authors to continue developing their skills. This is one more step towards preserving tradition, but also a contribution to employment and self-employment of women.
