Belgrade journalists visited licensed workshops

Journalists of Belgrade media houses have visited Cooperatives “Jefimija” in Veliko Gradiste, and “Zanart” in Negotin, on Tuesday, September 27,within the presentation of the project “Licensing standards for employment in rural areas”. They could see the premises where women create and sell their products, equipment that workshops received through this project, and they talked to producers of handicrafts to learn more about old techniques and about tradition in these cities of Eastern Serbia.

Representatives of Ethno Network and German organization for international cooperation GIZ, which supports this project, Snezana Jovanovic and Branislav Milic, presented project activities in previous period and announced expected results. They stressed the importance of programs like this for preservation of old crafts and tradition, but also for empowering and self-employment of women and youth, especially in less developed areas, thereby contributing to more balanced regional development of Serbia. Licensed workshops can participate now in increasingly popular active tourism, by holding training courses for tourists, public classes, thematic sales exhibitions.

Journalists of TV stations Avala and Pink, daily newspapers Politika and Press, weekly magazines Ekonometar, Vreme, Econom:east, Ilustrovana politika, Lisa, Stil, were mostly interested in the way of creating unique handicrafts, and about interest of tourists for these products, but they also learnt more about touristic opportunities in Eastern Serbia.
