Orientation training for trainers

On March 20, 2010, Ethno Network organized an introductory training for its trainers, aka demonstrators of traditional techniques in production of handicrafts. The seminar was attended by more than 30 women producers from 13 municipalities in Serbia.

As the educational system in Serbia lacks curricula in traditional techniques for handicraft production, and the needs for quality education in this area are growing, Sofija Arsic and Dusanka Botunjac as qualified educators in Ethno Network prepared a detailed program for standardization of education in four main techniques – embroidery, gold thread embroidery, weaving and filet lace-making. The introductory workshop will be followed by specialized workshops for educators in select techniques in order to develop additional skills among Ethno Network educators.

It is planned to establish a network of workshops held by its members that would be licensed to work according to high standards in education and production as prescribed by Ethno Network. The goal would be to reinforce the educational infrastructure and offer standardized education programs based on year-long experience of Ethno Network.

Following the complex educational programs, Ethno Network will license its educators that successfully complete the training and practical workshops and thus demonstrate the skills acquired through the training.
