Awards for winning miniatures

Slavica Vasovic from Sombor, Verica Avlijas from Belgrade, Marina Trifunovic from Pancevo and Slobodan Mitrovic from Bela Palanka, are this year\\\'s winners of the award for best miniatures made in traditional techniques. Their miniatures were rated as best at the 5th exhibition of handicrafts \\\'100 women - 100 miniatures\\\' in the categories of embroidery, weaving, felting, lace making and the best young author. Ethno Network organized the exhibition with support of the National Parliament and NALED. The exhibition will be open until May 19th. The exhibition \\\'100 women-100 miniatures\\\' is the only juried event in the field of handicrafts in our country whose goal is the motivation of women and young people to excel in handicraft production and gain public recognition for their work. At this year\\\'s event, more than 80 artisans supplied over 150 exhibits from 30 municipalities, and the jury selected 95 exhibits by 50 authors to be framed and displayed in the exhibition. \\\'Protocol of the National parliament, as well as the national government and government of province Vojvodina, use traditional handicrafts of Ethno Network as diplomatic gifts, which promotes the authenticity and beauty of Serbian heritage and creates a source of income and employment for women in rural regions,\\\' said Vladimir Marinkovic, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. The best rated authors were provided valuable prizes through sponsorship of socially responsible companies that have recognized the importance of this initiative (Telekom Serbia, CRH and Eurobank) and with the institutional support of the National Parliament and NALED.

Ethno Network promotes handicraft production as a promising industry that with minimal investments, can provide employment and source of income for over a thousand women from all over Serbia and change the image of country.
