Subotica Exhibition

Within the Ethno Network project to raise the quality of traditional handicrafts, with the direct support of local governments in Indjija, Loznica, Subotica, Senta, Pancevo and Pecinci, the educational team organized training courses for handicraft producers, mainly women. The goal was to create a high-quality product, characteristic of each of the municipalities and corresponding to the needs of a modern market, thus revitalising traditional craft making techniques, and creating self-employment programs for women and youth, especially in rural communities. The training program included general and specialized courses and technical assistance aiming to define a sophisticated production portfolio resulting in exquisite products packaged according to market requirements. Promotional exhibitions were organized to promote results of the project and to educate the local community about the importance of tradition and handicrafts. Exhibits presented a specific category of traditional handicrafts – business gifts for representation purposes. Each of the products met the standard of a supreme quality product – natural fabrics, traditional techniques, authentic design based on traditional motifs in the region, including certificates and adequate packaging. Congratulations to all the hardworking producers who participated in the project, in expectance that local governments will recognize the numerous benefits and continue to provide direct support to producers in their community.
