100 women - 100 miniatures

The eighth exhibition "100 Women - 100 Miniatures" was held on Thursday, September 29, 2021 at the residence of the Canadian Ambassador to Serbia, with the support of NALED, the Tourist Organization of Vojvodina and socially responsible companies - CCHBC, Telecom, Banca Intesa and Moravacem.

The gathered guests, including representatives of the diplomatic corps, state officials, media and authors of miniatures, were first addressed by the host of the exhibition, His Excellency the Ambassador of Canada Giles Norman, who along with his wife, Mrs. Valerie Lane, wholeheartedly supports Ethno Network as a patron of our colonies and training programs for women who are long-term unemployed. The exhibition was also attended by the Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, as well as the Commissioner for Gender Equality, Brankica Jankovic, who awarded the best authors.

The theme of this year's exhibition is "Tradition and Innovation", which could be achieved by using non-classical materials and modern motifs, coloristic combinatorics or a mixture of several techniques with the use of parts of old handicrafts. The exhibition was attended by 53 authors from 20 cities and municipalities in Serbia and the region, and a jury consisting of representatives of the Faculty of Applied Arts, the Ethnographic Museum and NALED selected the best miniatures.

In the competition of a total of 113 exhibits, the most successful authors in six categories were awarded. For the best miniature in the embroidery / gold embroidery category, the award went to Marija Paunovic-Contos from Belgrade, who is a double laureate because she also won an award in the weaving category. Slavica Stosic from Loznica was awarded for the best miniature in felting technique, while Katarina Mandic from Pancevo took the award in the category of crocheting / knitting. The award for miniature in the category of innovations was given for a miniature with elements of embroidery and gold embroidery on paper, made by Gorana Vukas from Indjija. The traditional award for a young author under 30 was given to Slobodan Mitrovic from Bela Palanka.

Congratulations to all the winners!
