Tradition seen by children’s eyes

Belgrade, November 18 – Primary school “Isidora Sekulic” in Belgrade was a host of award ceremony today, where the pupils were granted within the competition of art works on the topic of homecrafts. This competition is one of the activities within the project “Jobs in rural regions”, implemented by Ethno Network and funded by the Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Serbia.

After a short programme prepared by the youngest pupils, representatives of Ethno Network and school have adressed to the guests. They emphasised the importance of preserving traditional values and homecrafts among youth. Ethno Network, together with its partners on the project, wanted this way to entertain the kids and young people and to encourage their interest in tradition and handicrafts.

The experts jury, consisting of representatives of Ethno Network and the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, and a teacher of arts in Primary school “Isidora Sekulic”, had a difficult task to choose the best among many children’s works. The first prize was granted to Una Vlahovic (first-grade-pupil), Danijela Radojkovic (third grade) was the second, and Djordje Masovic (first grade) was the third. Fourth and fifth place was for pupils of fourth and second grade – Mila Masovic and Natalija Sakic. The authors of three best works were awarded with cash prizes of 30.000, 15.000 and 5.000 RSD, while the fourth- and fifth-placed got products of Ethno network.

Pupils have also prepared appropriately decorated gratitudes for the representatives of the Delegation of EU to the Republic of Serbia and “Belgrade City Markets”, which helped the implementation of this competition.

After the award ceremony there was organized entertaining program for children, who had a great fun with the magician and a clown.
