Exhibition in Pancevo

Exhibition of handicrafts, prepared by the association Panonka , was presented to the public 26th and 27 April in the lobby of City Government in Pancevo. Exhibited handicrafts were developed within the project \'Empowerment of women and youth for self-employment in the scope of rural development of Serbia\', initiated by the Ethno network with the support of the Fund for an Open Society.

Memberso f association Panonka, completed a course of felting - hand pressed wool, and during the three-week work , made over sixty different products that can serve as a good souvenir, clothing item or detail for everyday use.

The course participants are different ethnicities, and they implemented authentic motifs from their own culture on the products.

One-day seminar was organized with a group of young people, about forty, members of Artistic Association Stanko Paunovic, NIS- RN Pancevo. They are students of different high schools in Pancevo. They have heard about the various traditional techniques of craft, how to keep the intangible cultural heritage, as well as possibilities for self-employment. They also saw finished products ready for market.

Apart from the works of felt technique, it could be seen the other high-quality handicrafts made of natural materials in traditional techniques of weaving, embroidery and golden embroidery, made by the women from the association Panonka.

The exhibition was designed by Rajka Jovanovic, Ethno network’s educator. The exhibition was opened by Vesna Martinovic, the Mayor of Pancevo . She welcomed the guests from various organizations, cultural - artistic associations, related associations, NSZ (National Employment Service), representatives of local governments, and schools.

She pointed out that the production of handicraft is a way to keep the tradition and a way to monitor contemporary trends.

She also said that the handicrafts breathtaking, but that requires hard work, patience and lots of love. She promis
