Closing session on felting

A closing session of the three-day handicraft workshops coorganized by the magazine „Blic woman“ and Ethno Network, was held today in the Mixer House.

More than 80 workshop participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the oldest textile technique of felting that was never forgotten in Serbia and revitalized on the initiative of Ethno Network. Workshop participants were aided by skilled educators and demonstrators in making the world oldest toy balls of felted wool. According to the surveys filled out by participants of all three workshops, felting is seen as most attractive of the presented techniques as it provide the possibility of making different woolen items only with the help of soap and water. Nowadays in Serbia, wool is most frequently thrown away and burnt which could be prevented as it is obvious that there is great interest among women for felting. Editor in chief of the „ Blic woman“ Ruzica Mevorah and Ethno Network designer Dusanka Botunjac greeted and addressed the audience and gladly took part in the workshop along with the other participants.

All participants attending the workshop succeeded to make felted balls that they took home as a memento of today\'s gathering and encouragement to continue to develop their skills in wool felting or some other traditional technique.
